Published in 1960, For Your Eyes Only is a collection of five James Bond short stories by Ian Fleming: From a View to a Kill, For Your Eyes Only, Quantum of Solace, Risico and The Hildebrand Rarity. The stories place Bond in missions involving assassination, revenge, intelligence work, drug smuggling and criminal networks, while moving between Europe, the Caribbean and North America.

The collection also broadens the emotional and moral range of the Bond series. Some stories centre on conventional espionage and dangerous assignments, while others examine personal relationships, cruelty, loyalty and the consequences of private choices. Quantum of Solace, in particular, largely sets aside action in favour of a story about a failed marriage and emotional indifference. Taken together, the collection presents Bond both as a professional intelligence officer and as an observer of conflicts that are not always resolved through force.
