Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how The Quotation Index ("the site") handles personal data.

We have deliberately designed the site to collect and process as little personal data as possible. There are no user accounts, no sign-up and no forms, and we do not use analytics, advertising or visitor profiling.

For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), The Quotation Index, Denmark ("we", "us", "our") is the data controller for personal data processed in connection with the site.

2. Information we do not collect

We do not ask you to provide your name, email address or other personal details in order to use the site.

We do not use analytics services, advertising services or tracking technologies to monitor how individual visitors use the site. We do not build profiles of visitors or attempt to identify them from their browsing activity.

We do not ourselves record or track visitors’ IP addresses for analytics, advertising or profiling purposes.

3. Quotation history and session storage

The site uses your browser’s session storage to maintain a temporary history of the quotations you have visited. This allows you to see your recent quotation trail and easily return to a quotation you have previously read.

This information is stored entirely within your browser. It is not transmitted to us, stored on our servers or made available to us.

We therefore do not use your quotation history to identify you, analyse your behaviour, create statistics, build a profile of your interests or track you across browsing sessions.

The quotation-history information is temporary and is intended to last only for the relevant browser session.

4. Hosting and technical logs

The site is hosted by Scalingo on infrastructure located in France.

Like web-hosting providers generally, Scalingo may process standard technical information generated when your browser connects to the site. This may include information such as your IP address, the date and time of a request, the page or resource requested and other technical connection information.

Such information may be processed for purposes including operating the hosting infrastructure, maintaining security, preventing abuse and diagnosing technical problems.

We do not use hosting logs to identify visitors, analyse their interests or behaviour, or create visitor profiles.

To the extent that we process technical information of this kind, we do so on the basis of our legitimate interests in operating, securing and maintaining the site (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Scalingo may retain technical logs in accordance with its own legal obligations and retention policies.

5. If you contact us

If you contact us by email, we process the information you provide to us. This will normally include your email address, your name if you provide it, and the contents of your message.

We use this information only to reply to you and to deal with the matter about which you contacted us.

Our legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in receiving and responding to correspondence (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

We keep correspondence only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was received, including where necessary to establish a record of how a matter was handled or to comply with legal obligations.

6. Sharing personal data

We do not sell personal data or disclose it to advertisers, data brokers or analytics providers.

Personal data may be processed by service providers where this is necessary to operate the site or our communications. In particular, Scalingo provides the site’s hosting infrastructure.

We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so or where this is necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

7. Transfers outside the EU/EEA

We do not transfer personal data outside the EU/EEA.

The website hosting described above takes place in France.

8. Your rights

To the extent that we process personal data about you, the GDPR gives you a number of rights. Depending on the circumstances, these may include:

  • the right to obtain information about and access to your personal data;
  • the right to have inaccurate personal data corrected;
  • the right to have personal data erased;
  • the right to restrict certain processing;
  • the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests;
  • the right to data portability, where applicable; and
  • the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if the way the site operates changes or if our legal obligations change.

The date at the top of this page shows when the Privacy Policy was last updated.

If we introduce services that materially change how personal data is collected or used — such as user accounts, analytics or advertising — we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly.
