The World Crisis is Winston Churchill’s multi-volume history and memoir of the First World War and its aftermath. Drawing on official documents, correspondence and his own experience in government and military service, Churchill examines the origins of the conflict, major campaigns, strategic decisions and the conduct of political and military leaders. Particular attention is given to naval warfare and the Dardanelles campaign, with which Churchill was closely associated as First Lord of the Admiralty.

The work combines historical narrative with personal justification and strategic analysis. Churchill defends several of his own wartime decisions while criticising others made by governments and commanders. Later volumes extend the account beyond the Western Front to the post-war settlement and conflicts in Eastern Europe. The series remains significant both as an influential history of the war and as a record of how one senior British participant interpreted its causes, conduct and consequences.
