Oeuvres de Pasteur collects Louis Pasteur’s scientific writings across seven volumes, organised broadly by the major subjects of his research. The collection covers his early studies of molecular asymmetry, investigations of fermentation and spontaneous generation, and research concerning wine, vinegar, silkworm diseases and brewing.

Later volumes document Pasteur’s work on infectious diseases, vaccination and rabies, including experiments that contributed to the development of microbiology and germ theory. The collection preserves papers, lectures and other texts through which he presented experimental results and developed arguments about the biological activity of microorganisms.

Edited by his grandson Pasteur Vallery-Radot and published between 1922 and 1939, the edition concludes with a seventh volume of scientific and literary miscellany, together with chronological, name and analytical indexes. As a whole, the collection provides a documentary record of the development and range of Pasteur’s scientific work.
